David Adedeji Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, was born on November 21, 1992, and is a Nigerian-American singer, songwriter, and record producer. Davido combines global popular pop music with traditional African influences. He also put out several successful singles between the years 2013 and 2015, and in January 2016 he got a record deal with Sony Music. In 2011, David Adeleke began recording Omo Baba Olowo, his debut studio album. Hip hop and Afrobeats are combined to create the album's sound.   Davido worked with Jay Sleek, Maleek Berry, Theory Soundz, Spellz, Dokta Frabz, Mr. Chidoo, and Shizzi to produce the album. On Omo Baba Olowo, guests include Ice Prince, 2 Face Idibia, B-Red, Kayswitch, Sina Rambo, and Naeto C.   Music critics gave it mostly bad reviews, criticizing Davido's songwriting and the lyrical themes. The album was nominated for Album of the Year at The Headies 2013 and won Best R&B/Pop Album. Additionally, it received a nomination for the 2013 Nigeria Entertainment Awards' Best Album of the Year.   The debut single from the album, “Back When,” featuring Naeto C, was made available on May 7, 2011. Davido produced it, and it was played on the radio a lot. Davido revealed to Factory 78 television that he recorded “Back When” in London. On May 9, 2011, the music video for “Back When,” directed by Clarence Peters, was posted to YouTube.   Davido and Shizzi co-produced the album's second single, “Dami Duro,” which was made available on October 30, 2011. Davido stated he recorded the song in August of that year in an interview that was published on the NotJustOk website. Three months after he emailed the song to a few acquaintances, it was leaked. On January 8, 2012, the accompanying music video for “Dami Duro” was unveiled in conjunction with the Occupy Nigeria demonstrations.   On January 25, 2012, the third single off the album, “Ekuro,” was made available. Antwan Smith recorded and directed the music video for it in Miami. A poignant version of the song was released by Nigerian artist Aramide. “Overseas,” the fourth single from the album, was made available on May 6, 2012. However, before the song's official release, an unfinished version was leaked.   On September 28, 2012, the GospelOnDeBeatz-produced song “All of You” was made available as the album's fifth single. Davido told Factory 78 TV that he met GospelOnDeBeatz at a mall and they collaborated on the song.
