JAMB approves cut-off marks for 2022 admissions, Reveals top performers at the 2022/2023 UTME

JAMB announce the cut-off marks for the 2022/2023 admission and also  Reveals top performers at the 2022 UTME. This was disclosed during the JAMB policy meeting held today. The decision was taken after a heated session comprising officials from JAMB, the Ministry of Education, the National Universities Commission, and the National Board for Technical Education among others.

140 was approved as the national minimum cut-off mark for admission into public universities. 100 was decided for Polytechnics and Colleges of Education.

JAMB Registrar Prof Ishaq Oloyede explained that the aforementioned points are the minimum, but that does not mean that institutions must comply wholely to it.

“Institutions have the liberty to determine their cut-off point but must not be below the cut-off agreed at the policy meeting,” he explained.

The Registrar of JAMB has disclosed that only 378,639 of the 1,761,338 who wrote the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations scored 200 and above. The Registrar made this known at the 2022 JAMB Policy meeting.

A total of 520,596 candidates scored 190 and above ; 704,991 scored 180 and above; 934,103 scored 170 and above; 1,192, 057 scored 160 and above.

He also disclosed that Adebayo Eyimofe an Ekiti State Indegene scored the highest mark in the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination with a total of a total of 362 marks.

He was followed closely by Ugwu Chikelu, an indigene of Enugu state who also wrote his UTME in Abuja. Ugwu scored 359.

Other high scorers include Igbalaye Ebunoluwa 357; Emmanuel Oluwanifemi 357; Ozumba Samuel 357; Olumide-Attah Ayomide 355; Lawal Olaoluwa 355; Dokun Jubril 354; Amaku Anthony 354 and Aghulor Divine 353.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and tertiary education stakeholders on Thursday in Abuja adopted 140 as the minimum cut-off mark for 2022 admission into the nation’s universities.

The cut-off mark for polytechnics and colleges of education was pegged at 100.

The decisions on the cut-off marks were reached at the 2022 Policy Meeting on Admissions to Degree, Nigerian Certificate of Education (NCE) and National Diploma (ND) ongoing at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.
