HOSPITAL.

Imelda keep pacing to and fro, biting her fingernails repeatedly and sighing. One could tell she's really worried. Pete took his seat watching her. He wondered how that old man is to her? Why is she so worried about him?

“I hope he's okay? He'll be right?” She kept asking herself. It has been up to forty minutes now that he had been rushed to the ER. She just wish everything would be fine.

“Please Granps…be fine” She prayer inwardly. The door finally opened and the Doctor came out with a worried look.

“Doctor…how's he? He's fine right?! Please tell me it's nothing serious” She rushed her question as she rushed to the doctor. Pete also got up walking closer to them.

“Doc…is everything alright with him?” Pete also asked.

“Are you his guardian?” The doctor asked.

“No…” She replied slowly.

“But I know him” She added.

“Well I believe I need to see his family…if you can please contact them” He said and AAA about to leave but Imelda stopped him.

“He's…okay right?” She quizzed.

“For now…he's stable…please contact his family immediately” The doctor said and took his leave. Imelda sighs.

“For now…? Oh no Granps…” She mumbles.

HM AUTOMOBILE.

“What kind of a love are you? You put me up the ladder only to be pulled down by the same you…”

“If you were just going to hurt me…you should have just left me…in my past agony”

“You shouldn't have come…and break me more…more than I was already broken…”

“FATHER!!!” A tiny high pitched voice jerk Hardin back to reality. He snapped his head up from the book he was reading and saw Rapunzel and Ruby already Inside Hus office.

He was totally immensed with the book that he didn't knew when they came in.

“Rappy!!” He dropped the book and stood from his seat as Rapunzel ran to his arms.

“What is the princess herself doing here?”

“Father…I think I've became the forgotten princess” she pouted.

Hardin frowned.

“What makes you think that?”

“Because…you've abandoned me. You don't come to see me anymore…you don't miss me also”

“Oh come on that's not true…i never forgot about you princess…but I admit I've wronged you. Tell me how should I make up for it?”

“Hmmm….what about the amusement park!”

“Ohh…then I promise to_”

“Right now! I want to go now”

“But…”

“You are not gonna take me there? You are gonna reject me your princess? Am I not your princess anymore?”

“Oh dear you should understand…he's busy…he's got a lot of work to do…when he's free he'll surely take you” Ruby said but Rapunzel only huffed.

“I'm sorry Hardin she insisted on seeing you that's why I brought her” Ruby apologize while he only nodded.

“Princess…alright if that's what you want then why not?”

“Really?”

“Huh So don't be angry anymore”

“I love you father” She kissed both his cheeks.

“Wait a minute..” He took his car keys but then his phone started ringing.

“Hello…yes it's him on the line….what?! What hospital? Alright I'll be there in a jiffy”

“Hardin what's wrong?” Ruby asked on noticing his sudden worried expression.

“It's grandpa…he's in the hospital”

“What?”

“I have to go see him”

“I'll go with you”

“Call Jesse and inform him…I'll tell Alfred”

“Alright…”

“Father what's wrong?”

“Princess your grandpa is sick and I need to go to him…can the amusement park wait?”

“Alright father I'll go with you…I want to see grandpa also.”

HOSPITAL.

Imelda sat beside grandpa holding his hands tightly. It has been more than an hour now and he still hasn't opened his eyes.

“Here I got you something to drink” Pete said behind her stretching a lemonade to her.

“Thanks” She mutters and drop it on the table near her.

“Pete…I'm gonna be use the restroom real fast…can you watch over him for me?” She asked good humouredly and he nodded. Imelda stood up after giving grandpa one last glance before she excused herself.

AFTER SOME WHILE.

Imelda was coming back from the restroom. On about entering grandpa's room she had to stop abruptly when she spots Hardin, Ruby and Rapunzel coming. Quickly she hid in a corner. They entered grandpa's room and Imelda came out of her corner watching them secretly. She watch how Hardin hugs and kissed Rapunzel…how Ruby pats him Consoling him. Then she realized…they must have finally become one happy family. She took her eyes away from them resting her back on the wall. She released a deep sigh. It's better for her not to show up and ruin everything.

“You must be the one who brought grandpa here…thank you so much…I'm Hardin Morrison” Hardin said stretching his hand forward to Pete for an handshake.

“I'm Pete Edgar and you shouldn't be thanking me cause I'm actually not the one who helped your grandpa..nevertheless nice meeting you Mr Hardin” Pete replied taking his hand in his.

“If you aren't…then who…?” Hardin asked as they withdraw their respective hands.

“It was Mi amor…” Pete smiles.

“Mi amor?…ahh your girlfriend?” Hardin said.

“”she helped your grandpa and had been with him ever since she only went to use the restroom she should be on her way back now.” Pete responded and Hardin nodded.

“Hardin…I think it'll be better if you go see the doctor first”Ruby said behind him.

“I'll stay here with Rapunzel” She added.

“Your wife and daughter?” Pete asked smiling.

“My family…I'll go see the doctor” He said looks at his unconscious Grandpa for some seconds before exiting the room.

Hardin got outside the room and was about leaving to the doctor's office when he spot a lady not far from him. Somehow her back looks familiar. Could she be the one who saved his grandpa? She started walking towards her.

“Excuse me young lady” Imelda's heart skipped a beat immediately she heard his voice.

“Oh no…he can't be…”

“Excuse me but can_” Hardin didn't get to complete his statement as Imelda took to her heels. Hardin watch her ran away.

“What's with her…?” He thought heading to the doctor's office.

HOURS LATER.

Alfred wouldn't stop sobbing as he held unto grandpa's hand who was still unconscious. The atmosphere was quiet except for the muffle sobs that can be heard. Jesse stood by the window staring into space probably lost in thought. Hardin stood by the door with his hands folded…he stares at the unconscious old man lying on the bed. Ruby had taken Rapunzel back home. The trio were obviously devastated ever since they heard the news about grandpa…the mood became darker.

“Mr Morrison is currently at stage 5 CKD his kidney is close to failure…I'm sorry to say but his kidney can't no longer support his body's needs”

“It'll be good if he starts dialysis or get a kidney transplant…but the chances are really slim” Were the doctor's message to them.

Why? Why did he have to keep it from them? Why couldn't he just come clean to them?

IMELDA'S HOUSE.

“Hey! How could you just leave like that?! I looked everywhere for you”Pete scolded Imelda on getting to her apartment.

“Sorry…I…had a sudden emergency”

“You should have just called..pfft”

“How's he? Has he woken up?”

“No…he hasn't. It's bad…apparently that old man had some kidney disease…End_stage kidney disease that's what I heard”

“Wha…wha…t?”

“”He had been nursing this illness for years secretly. He probably doesn't want his grandchildren broken hearted and worried that's why he kept it from them. But now he's dying and they're just finding out. How devastated would they be right now.” Pete sighs taking his seat while Imelda almost fell where she's standing.

“What did you just say Pete? End_stage kidney disease?” Her eyes widened in their sockets.

HOSPITAL.

“Alfred…”Grandpa called weakly on opening his eyes. Alfred snapped his head up immediately to see him staring back at him.

“Gra…grandpa…guys he's awake!” Alfred called the attention of others and they rushed to his side quickly.

“Oh no…my grandchildren are all here…I'm sorry for bothering you guys…” He smiles feebly. Hardin almost go gaga. He really wanted to shout on him right now demanding why he didn't inform them he's sick but he couldn't. Either way his eyes says it all.

“You must be all be angry at me…especially you Hardin…”

“Grandpa…how are you feeling? I should get the doctor” Jesse said about heading out.

“Home…take me home”

“You can't go home now grandpa…you have to stay here and get treated” Alfred said to him.

“I don't like the smell here…I want to go home…back to my family” he mutters.

“You're really a pain in the ass old man” Hardin said.

Grandpa smiles.

“Wait till tomorrow…for now I'll get the doctor” Jesse said with watered eyes. It's obvious he's fighting back his tears right now.

NEXT DAY.

The discharge was already in process. Hardin insisted on seeing the person who saved his grandpa before leaving and he wouldn't stop pestering Pete about it. He had actually exchanged contacts with him the other day. Since Imelda won't go to the hospital for a reason he doesn't know of. Pete decided to invite Hardin over to their office.

Hardin stood in front of a not so fine building..he sighs and went in following the direction Pete had given him earlier on the phone. He was surprised when he entered into the average office. Unlike outside the inside was more beautiful and eye-catching. The two ladies stopped working and stares at him not uttering a word. One was grinning while the other had an indifference look on.

“Hi” He greeted and the lady grinning waves at him. The other one returned to her work.

“Hey camarada! you're here” Pete Whizzled out from a corner.

“Hey Pete”

“Boss who is he? Is he a newbie? Gosh he's soooo handsome!” Glen gushed grinning ear to ear.

“Where is she? The lady who saved my grandpa” Hardin asked Pete ignoring Glen.

“She_”

“Pete…do we have a visitor? I heard some voi_” Imelda came out from the same corner Pete came out from but had to halt in her speech when she saw Hardin right in front of her.

“Hardin…” She called shockingly.

“Here she is” Pete announced and both look at themselves with utmost surprised and shocked. Pete discovered this and decided to speak up.

“Why…ahh are you blinded by her beauty? She's damn beautiful right?” Pete grinned and Imelda quickly take her eyes away.

“Mi amor he's apparently the grandson of the man you saved. He came here personally to thank you” Pete said and Hardin snapped out of it.

“Hello I heard you saved my grandpa..I wanted to thank you at least before leaving…that was nice of you to do” Hardin said trying not to let his emotion get the best of him.

“Yeah…my amor is just too kindhearted…that's why I love her sooo much” Pete kissed her cheek while she just remained there saying nothing.

“I'm sure her offspring is definitely gonna be like her…” He suddenly touch her tummy. Hardin swallowed nothing.

“Then…I'll get going now…have…a good life” He said and turns leaving.

“We will…you too have a wonderful life!”Pete shouted after him waving and grinning at the same time. Imelda just turn to her office saying nothing.

Hardin rushed out of the building almost missing his step. Her face appeared in his mind again. The image of Pete kissing her cheek and placing his palm on her stomach wouldn't stop replaying on his mind.

“Why? I finally find her….why??” He staggered to his car and drove off roughly.

Imelda got to her office, she started pacing to and fro eating her fingernails.

What is she to do now? Why did he have to show up suddenly? She wasn't prepared for that…why…?

“Mi amor…what's wrong? Are you okay?” Pete asked on entering the office. Imelda turns to him and wrapped her arms around him tightly.

“What do I do Pete?…what do I do…?”She mumbles on his shoulder.

GRANDPA'S HOUSE.

“Where is she?” Grandpa asked the sullen looking Hardin as he walked into the house.

“Who?”

“Didn't you went to get her?”

“You…knew?”

“Of course I do…why do you think I was there in the first place? It was to get her back” grandpa replied flatly.

“Who are you talking about?” Ruby asked while the others stare at them in curiosity also.

Hardin scoffs.

“You're unbelievable old man”

“So you failed to bring her back?”

“Who are you talking about right now?” Alfred asked impatiently.

“Someone…you'll know soon…get ready guys…we're having a family dinner here tomorrow” Grandpa said.

“I'll bring her back myself” He added. Hardin only balled his fists.

“Take me inside Jesse…I'm weary” Grandpa said and Jesse leaped up immediately going to his side. Alfred stood also helping him.

“Hardin…what's wrong? Who is this person you guys are talking about? You look perplexed” Ruby said placing her palm on his shoulder. Hardin turns to give her a killing look.

“Buzz off” He seethed before leaving. Ruby sighs.

NEXT DAY.

Imelda sighs for the umpteenth time as she stood outside the door. She didn't had the intention of coming but she just couldn't turn down grandpa's invitation…especially in that condition he is right now. He had sent his someone to her to invite her to the dinner the previous day. But now she's there she's not sure anymore…after a year…will everything really be okay now?

“Why isn't she coming…?” Grandpa mutters as Ruby served their food along with the other maids.

“Are you waiting for someone grandpa?” Ruby asked and Hardin looks at him immediately.

“Yes…but she's getting late…Hardin how about you go check outside?” Grandpa said but he pretended not to hear.

“I'll just go” Alfred stood up and head for the door. On opening it he saw a woman backing him. Imelda was actually about leaving.

“Oh…you must be the lady grandpa is waiting for…why don't you come in?” He smiles and slowly she turns to face him. A shock expression immediately formed on his face.

“Imelda?” His smiles faded immediately.

“Imelda…” He called again.

Imelda walked slowly behind Alfred to the dining.

“You're finally here” Grandpa beamed in smiles.

“Grandpa..” She mumbles then went to hug him where he's seated.

The rest in the room stares at her in shock except for Alfred and Hardin.

“Hey…it's really you” Jesse stood up also hugging her.

“You are prettier now gosh I almost didn't recognize you…Imelda” He hugs her again. Ruby immediately put on a smile.

“Good evening miss Imelda” She greeted.

“It should be Mrs…not miss rather Ruby” Hardin spoke up and every eyes turns to him then to Imelda. Alfred was the first to speak up.

“You're…married Imelda?” Imelda was about answering when grandpa interrupted.

“Enough of that already…I didn't invite her over so you could dive into her privacy”

“Come on grandpa…you can't consider that as privacy it's only normal you know…Imelda darling after dinner we have a lot to discuss alright” Jesse said and she smiles.

Ruby dished out everyone's food but Imelda insisted on doing hers.

“You're our guest…let me do it” Ruby smiles at her.

“This is her home…let her do as she pleases” Grandpa smiles and Ruby stepped back for her.

“It's so stuffy in here…” Hardin stood up. He walked to the bar took a bottle of drink and went out. All eyes except that of Imelda's follows him.

Getting to the garden he loosen two of his shirt buttons and sat on a bench there. He uncapped the drink taking a huge swig. His eyes became red. He just couldn't take it. He couldn't sat there with them…with her.

“Imelda…can you take me to my room?” Grandpa said after they finished eating.

“Of course Grandps” Imelda stood up and went to him. The rest watch as they proceed to the room.

“Why did you keep it a secret?” Imelda asked after they've settled in the room.

“Cause I didn't wanna hurt them…they may be pretending to be alright but I do know…they aren't” Grandpa replied slowly.

“I'm scared…their parents left them at such a tender age…they've always relied on me…If I leave too…it'll surely be hard on them”

“Them don't leave grandpa…stay with them until you're sure they can do it themselves”

“I can't…it's already too late…”

“What do you mean grandpa?”

“I only have few months to live”

“What?”

“Imelda I have a reason for calling you here today…you see I know what happened the past year took a great toll on you…but right now I'm already so weak and can't do anything any longer” He held her hands.

“So…I have a last wish I'd like you to fulfill for me”

“Grandpa…?

“He may not show it but I can see it clearly in his eyes…that child is such a pitiful child…I'm so angry at myself that I can't do anything already…you're the only hope I have left…so I'm brazenly asking this of you…child can you take him back?”

“Grandpa…”

“Can you grant…this last wish of mine?” He said as tears slid down his wrinkled face.

“Grandpa…”

“This…is the last gift…I can give to him…”

The cool breeze fan his face as he stares into space. His mind is in jumbles and he doesn't know what to think.

Everything seems messy and tangled. It's hurts him that he can't do a thing.

Imelda coming back

His grandpa sudden illness

Imelda having a family already.

Everything came as a shock to him. He doesn't know how to deal or face it. He's just hurt…he's hurt by everything. He's in so much pain right now. The fact that she nows belongs to someone else…the fact that very soon his grandpa is gonna leave him…the fact that she can't be his anymore…the fact that he's hurting so much right now and yet…there's no one by his side to tell him everything will be okay. The fact that he has literally lost something precious to him…the fact that he's alone right now.

“AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!”He yelled out in agony.

“AHHHHH! AHH! AH!!AHH!!!” His yell turns into tears. He broke down and sobs bitterly. Imelda stood at a corner behind him watching everything. She felt sad and pity for him. She wish she could go console him but right now…she's probably the last person he wanna see. She just watched him…as he sob and cry out in pain.
