UW also values each student’s unique path and offers support as students connect to and engage with the campus and foster a work environment where care for self and others is woven into the fabric of its community.The Mechanical Engineering Department awards a number of merit and need-based scholarships for new, transfer, and continuing majors. Each year, dozens of students receive scholarships in varying amounts totaling over $400,000. Students apply online between April 1 and May 1 for awards the following academic year. Need-based scholarships require submitting a prior FAFSA application. Transfer students, even if not admitted by May 1, should apply for our scholarships if needed. Awards will be contingent on admission to the Mechanical Engineering program.
In addition, the department regularly posts scholarship announcements from industry and professional associations to all admitted students on BSME News.
Eligibility criteria for the Merit Scholarships at University of Washington.
- Applicants must be admitted to the applied programme by 1st May.
- Applicants must meet the admission requirements of the university.
- Applicants must submit scores of the following English language proficiency tests:
- TOEFL IBT – 92
- TOEFL PBT – 580
- TOEFL CBT – 237
- IELTS – 7.0
- Duolingo – 120
