CHAPTER 12

ON THE ROOFTOP.

Angela ran to the rooftop breathing heavily. She looks around and found no sight of Mike. She sighs for the umpteenth time mussing her hair up. She was about leaving when her eyes caught a shoe sticking out at a corner. Her face lit up in smiles as she walks towards it.

“Found you” she smiles breathlessly and Mike looks up to her saying nothing. She took a sit beside him and started playing with her fingers.

“What are you doing here alone…?” She asked slowly but receive no response.

“You know…80% of people keep their feelings to themselves cause they think it's hard for others to understand their pain. But you know that's not always true. As long as you find the right person then you'll certainly know that there are many people in this world who understand you more than you think…tell me your pain Mike…I may have the relief to that” Angela said lofty and somehow that got Mike talking.

“My Dad never loved me or treated me like a son. He has always hated the fact that our DNA matched. There was a misunderstanding when my mom got pregnant of me of having an affair with a co worker. That got my dad really pissed off do he probably thought I was a bastard. But even when the DNA was conducted….he calmed down but the hated never completely went away he favors my elder brother alone and was never that fond of me. Nothing I did move nor motivate him. My mom was the only one I had…she was my World” Mike paused and Angela shifted her sitting position to a more comfortable one.

“But then my mom left me…an unfortunate accident occurred when we were coming back home from an occasion….right there….she left me…all alone in this cruel world. I had no one except my brother but then suddenly Dad took him abroad…far away from me. I was left yet alone again. Lonely and alone. The only thing I could do to keep my mind off things was read and study ”

“Ohhh….that's explains why you're a genius…” Angela mutters.

“I always thought I was a weird human being…how I view things different from other people. How I don't get impressed with ladies but rather with guys. How I'm more interested in them than ladies….I never knew it had a meaning until I came to this school and met Mr Kelvin…that's when everything started to become clear. I found out without realizing it that…I am a Gay. It came as a shock. Does this have to happen? Why me? Why me? But…why me? Before I knew it Dad found out and hated me more. But he never knee about my relationship with Mr Kelvin if he had knew….then things would have been worse. I kept it a secret. Nobody knew. We were careful enough. But Dad made life a living hell for me everyday…hurling abusive words…hurtful comments and all that. I hated myself for being whom I am. To him I am nothing but a shame. An unlucky sperm which brings nothing but torment to him. The son he regretted and wished not to have. The black sheep of the family…but I understand…cause i hated and am ashamed of myself more…” He sounded pained but Angela just kept quiet.

“I'm pathetic…I know that” he said impatiently when Angela wouldn't talk.

“Yes you are” Angela said and Mike looked at her.

“You're indeed pathetic Mike…you are” she affirms.

“But you know…not only are you…but every one else. Everyone in this universe is pathetic. You're pathetic…I am pathetic because we all have our own stories…nobody is perfect. And one more thing…it seems you don't know but sometimes the black sheep of the family always has a colorful mind and a beautiful heart. It's just take the right person to see it. It's not your choice to be like that…it's just who you are. You're perfectly flawed Mike. We're all imperfectly perfect ” Angela said good humoredly making Mike silent for a while. Probably letting her words sink in his mind.

“It was always like a burden…a burden I've always wanted to pull away. I've always wanted to let it out but didn't know how to. If you hadn't interfered then I would have spoken the truth…but then again I couldn't. I didn't dated you because of your threat…I just wanted an excuse…an excuse to run away from it again. I couldn't come out clean…but I've always felt bothered. Not like I chose to be different from others. I can't reciprocate your feelings Angela…so you should stop liking me also…though I'm sure you've already stopped ”

“For you to tell me all these shows someway I'm special to you. Doesn't that signify you're already taking a liking to me…I held a special place in your heart now Mikey”

“Don't be full of yourself”

“It's just the fact…you're falling for me without realizing it” Angela affirms making Mike Snickers.

“Have you thought about it…why is it that every time I tried to give up on you something always happen to stop it? Mike that's a sign that we're really meant for each other. A perfect match made from heaven we are”

“I told you you're getting ahead of yourself…” he poke her shrugged .

“Don't forget you're the genius Mike and I'm the clingy Angela” she boasted and make kept silent.

They both kept silent.

“Mike…about your secret…I'm sorry” she broke the silence after a while.

“You think that'll cut it?”

“I never knew it was recording…I just…Daniel was being a bone in the throat so I just wanna…” She stop and bit her lower lip.

Mike Snickers.

“We really need to do something about this your clumsiness”

“Mikey…?”

“Funny how I missed you calling me that”

“I told you you're already falling for me…” She said while Mike only snicker.

“You're smiling a lot lately now…that's what I've always wanted. You know smiling triggers 17 muscles of the face while crying activate 45… I've always been worried…but I'm satisfied now…Mike you're changing”

“You made me…Angela I wasn't like this….I'm not this kind of person”

“Isn't it good to have a determined crush? You see the benefits?”

Mike chuckles.

“You're right…I can't seem to stop”

“Mikey…tell me about your mother”

“My mother?” His countenance returned to dejected one.

“I wanna know her…” Angela requested and it was Mike's turn to play with his fingers now.

“My mom was extraordinary…I love her. She makes me smile…I love her a lot.”

“She sounds like a wonderful person”

“She is…wonderful”

“What was she doing? A florist would fit her perfectly”

“Far from that. She was a ballerina”

“Really? Wow…so was my sister”

“Your sister?”

“Um? She loved flying?”

“Loved?”

“Um….she stopped flying…when an unfortunate accident happened”

“About your sister…?”

“Abby? What about her?”

“She…never mind”

“So your mother…does she owns a dance academy?”

“No…but she was an instructor…and quite popular and talented”

“And beautiful…since her son is”

Mike smiles.

“She was indeed beautiful”

Angela smiles feeling satisfied with herself.

She still can't believe she's having a normal conversation with Mike.

She can't believe he's telling her all these.

She can't believe…they've grown so much closer than before.

He's finally opening up to her.

“Why did you did that then?”

“What?” She looks at her.

“Turning away from me? You said so many hateful things and turned away. Why did you do that? I thought we were doing well?” Angela quizzed making Mike looks away.

Then he remembered…why he did that.

A MONTH AGO.

AT THE INFIRMARY.

After Angela kissed his cheek and Mike stood up to go out. He opened the door only to find Mr Kelvin at the door outside.

He probably saw everything.

“Now you guys are kissing?” He asked with a mixture of hurt and anger.

“It isn't like that”

“After everything…after all promises…this is it after all Mike?”

“Listen to me it's_”

“DON'T TELL ME THAT MIKE! I WARNED YOU! I WARNED YOU SEVERAL TIMES ABOUT THAT GIRL. SHE'S GETTING IN BETWEEN US CAN'T YOU SEE. YOU'RE TAKING A LIKING TO HER”

“I'm not…I'm certainly not!”

“Mike…you remember right? When we started this…I told you clearly…you have no right to end this on your own. When I'm tired of you I'll end it myself”

“You're threatening me again”

“I'm not…it's only a reminder Mike”

Mike kept silent.

“That girl is becoming a thorn in the flesh…I can't put up with it any longer…do something Mike this is my limit…we have been doing perfectly great before she came. Don't ruin something left alright” Mr Kelvin warned before leaving him.

Mike knew there were no escape to this. He indeed admit he has been getting more closer to Angela and that's really pisses Mr Kelvin off.

He didn't go into the relationship with Mr Kelvin because he wanted to. Someway he discovered his secret.

“I am quite an observer…I noticed the first day you came here. You like me right? I can see it in your eyes Mike. You like your teacher the way you shouldn't” Mr Kelvin told him then.

Till now he can't understand how Mr Kelvin got to know how he's gay.

The only thing he told him whenever he asked him was that. He knew right away from how he looked at him.

Mike couldn't dispute the fact that he indeed held a crush on him. And that lead in to what he is in today.

Being clueless and new to that kind of thing. Mr Kelvin coax him into the relationship and since then he had never been free.

He sure like Mr Kelvin but sometimes he tends to be too domineering.

Mike didn't had a choice.

Mr Kelvin told him only him can end the relationship and that when he's tired of it. If Mike tries to misbehave then he wouldn't hesitate to hurt him.

He had his way of doing that.

Honestly Mike was scared. Not because of himself but because of his father. He didn't want this to let out on the fear of what his father might do. After all his mother was no more and his elder brother was no longer with him. He had no one. And Mr Kelvin seems like a nice person but just can be dangerous at some point.

He could not make friends cause of him and had to spend his time alone.

He felt more lonely than he was before but he was still happy with Mr Kelvin so everything was alright.

Now he's scared what he might do to Angela cause he doesn't make empty threats.

Mike knew…he had to let Angela go…for her sake.

BACK TO PRESENT.

“Mike! Mike!!”

“Uh? What…?”

“What are you thinking? You didn't heard anything I said right?”

“What did you say?”

“It's already in the past now…I don't care any longer since you're back Instead I just wanna no one thing”

“What?”

“I wanna know how you two started dating and how he comes to know your secret.who asked each other out first and how you long you two have been in it”

Mike Snickers.

“Curiosity kills the cat”

“And satisfaction brought it back” retorts.

“That's a story you won't hear from me. Sort it out yourself” Mike said and Angela pouted.

“How mean of you…”

Mike smiles and stretched.

“I feel free now. Thanks to you. Friends?” He offer his right palm for a handshake.

“Uh? Friends? Why friends?” She asked and Mike threw her a questioning look.

“Yeah…frie…friends…why not ” she took his palm in hers.

“But you know we can still be more than friends…we can always date” she said and Mike tweak her nose.

“Seriously you…”

“Just saying…just letting you know” she shrugged.

“But I heard you got in trouble…what happened?”

“That…is just something…” She faked a laugh.

THE NEXT DAY.

“I can't believe he could still show up in school”

“He's really shameless isn't he?”

“He acts as if nothing happened..”

“He is such a cool guy…wow this makes me like him more”

“He's disgusting…”

Angela put the headphone over Mike's ears.

“Don't listen to them…they'll just ruined your mood” she says while Mike offers a small smile.

After a while stood up.

“Where are you going?” Angela asked.

“To the restroom” he walks away whilst Angela RA after him.

“You're following me there?”

“Just…I also going to the restroom”

“Don't push it…it's getting annoying”

“Mike!” Jacq called and they both looks back.

“Can I have a moment with you?”

“What do you want?” Angela asked but Jack ignored her.

“Come on Mike…alone”

“Just say whatever you wanna say here” Angela butt in again.

“Who do you think you are to keep butting in? His spokesman?” Jacq asked irritated.

“His girlfriend” she replied whilst jacq scoffs.

“What do you want jacq?” Mike asked calmly and jacq sighs.

“Alright…I wasn't in school yesterday and this morning when I came I heard something strange. There are some unruly rumours going on about you in the school…I just wanna confirm if it's true”

“Why is it that you're always absent on important days? People like you forget their wedding date” Angela butt in again.

“You just shut it” jacq gritted.

“Jacq whatever it is that you may have heard is true…”

“But Mike…it can't be…I mean you…you're Mike and also_”

“Does him being Mike says he can't be different?”

“Mike listen I…I you…I really like_”

“Hey stop there…I already told you he's mine don't push it”

“Can you stop being a nuisance for once and just scram?' Jacq faced her now.

“You're the one disturbing others boyfriend so scram”

While they are arguing Mike took his leave and Edward ran to them on sighting them.

“Angela my angel! What happened? You just went off yesterday and I couldn't find you”

“Eddie can you tell your so called sister to stop being a leech and just leave our lives alone. She isn't wanted” Angela said before storming away.

“What did you do now?!” Edward glared before running after Angela.

Jacq scoffs folding her arms.

“She's out of her she senses!”

LATER IN CLASS.

“You guys must be wondering why I'm here instead of your maths teacher? Well that's probably why he has been transferred to another school and till you get another one I'll be taking your maths” Mr Collins the physics teacher which is also their homeroom teacher announced.

The students started murmuring.

“Why suddenly?”

“Hr didn't told us anything…”

“I'm gonna miss Mr Kelvin seriously…”

Daniel looks at Mike and smirk.

Mike keeps his head down.

Angela looks at him and sighs.

Actually she's dead happy.

She smiles secretly to herself.

“Don't ask me why? I don't know the reason also…it came as a shock to me too. But if you really wanna know you can go to the principal for the info” Mr Collins added.

“I don't wanna take you guys also…it's a hassle…anyway class…this is the beginning of another term. Though we should have done this a week ago…it's not to late. We need to appoint a new class monitor since Daniel's tenor is over. What do you think? Do you want Daniel to continue or just appoint another person for it?”

“There's no way Daniel will continue Mr Collins. We don't want him!” Angela said raising up her hand and Daniel scoffs.

“Daniel you have an enemy over here” the teacher said.

“I'm against it also” jacq added raising her hand up.

“Me too!” Laura said.

“Me three me three” Edward stood up waving his hand.

“Alright guys…no more Daniel”

Angela smirks at Daniel while he glares at her.

“Samuel stand up” the teacher ordered.

Samuel stood.

“Edward and Mike stand” the teacher ordered and they obeyed.

“This are the three people I have in mind. Take your pick”

“There's no way we'd choose Mike”

“Yes that's impossible!”

“Mr Collins are you kidding us?”

“Oh Mike seems you're eliminated at the first round…you can take your sit”

“Yes teacher” Mike Sat down.

“I mean what's wrong with him? You're guys are strange” Angela mutters.

“Alright we have Samuel and Edward…who Is your choice?”

AFTER A WHILE.

Edward being choosen as the class president stood at the teacher's table to give a speech.

“I'm so happy you guys chose the right thing. After all you're all not bad. I promise to make this term a fun and exciting one for you guys. Edward gat you all darlings!” He winks and the class arouse in hoos.

“Edward you can do it!”

“Hooo…baddest king we trust you!”

“You're the best Eddie!!”

“Why don't you take your sit now Mister?” The teacher said.

“Ah teacher one more thing please.” He faced the students.

“Angela my angel!” He called and Angela snapped her head up to him.

“Me?” She pointed to herself.

“I've been promoted to the class president…when will I be promoted in your heart?” He asked lovingly making the class cooled.

“Hooo….date! Date!! Date!!!” The class started clapping and banging the desks.

Jacq scoffs.

Andrea face palmed.

Edward smiles at her.

While Angela only make some faces at Edward also trying to stop the students.

“Ouch!”

The teacher hits the cane on Edward's head.

“Take your sit young man…unserious student SHUT IT EVERYONE!” he snarl at them and there was dead silence in the class.

“It'll be good if you take your books seriously like that! Most of you performed woefully in the last exams…I. Seriously ashamed of you guys!” The teacher keeps ranting while Angela looks at Mike whose minds seems not to be there.

Angela sighs facing the teacher but then she caught Edward smiling at her.

“You are dead” she gestured to him with her hands.
