CHAPTER 7

MIKE'S HOUSE.

“What's that?” Mike asked Angela who brought out a chewing gum.

“This? For studying I'm tired of eating chocolates…this helps too” she replied unwrapping the gum.

“It'll be good if you use your brain for something sensible instead of this meaningless things”

“No no you're wrong. This is actually something good trust me” she brought out a perfume.

“Don't tell me you're using that too?” Mike pointed at the perfume.

“Uh. Apparently sense of smell helps in studying” she grins.

“Don't worry very soon you'll see how brilliant and intelligent I can be. Chewing gum can be helpful as it helps the brain to recall what a person has studied according to physiologist”

“You mean psychologist? What physiology is it natural science or what?” Mike snickers.

“This is the first time” Angela said staring at him.

“What…?”

“Mike you…you laughed. You actually laughed. Whao who knew you could laugh like this? You look even more handsome” Angela cooled while Mike clears his throat.

“Let's begin studying” he opens the book.

“C'mon smile one more time…I want to see your beautiful smile again…who knows the boorish Mike could actually knows how to smile…?”

“Won't you pay attention?” He pretends to be mad.

“C'mon Mikey show it to me again…hey it takes more muscles to frown than to smile so you should always smile…smile Mikey…smile” she draws his cheeks

“Smile for Mikey…”

“Hey!” He pulled her hands away.

“You're cuter when smiling than frowning…Mikey…” She draws his cheeks again while Mike help her hands.

“Stop it…let's study” he gritted.

AFTER A WHILE.

“Tell me what your problem really is uh? I've explained this over three times now” Mike lash at Angela who eats the tip of her pen.

“I'm sorry Mikey…I'm making you get mad…I'm sorry for not understanding but you know it isn't my fault. I know maths but it becomes complicated for me ever since alphabet joined it”

“You should blame Francois Viete for that and also maths isn't the only subject you're lagging behind. It not like you know the other subjects”

“I'm sorry…for being stupid.”

They went silent for a while.

“Mikey…can we have a break first?”

“Break?”.

“You know the most effective way to memories things is to take a 17 minutes break for every 52 minutes of studying”

“What nonsense are you spewing now?”

17 MINUTES LATER.

“Time's up!” Mike banged the desk.

“Uh? So soon?”

“This is exactly 17 minutes”

“I must say it's really boring to be perfect…”

“Hey nobody is perfect”

“Well I think you're right…that's explains why I'm stupid and you're into guys”

“What?”

“Mikey…can we pend maths for now? My brain can't really take anything calculations”

“This is the most crucial sub”

Angela sighs slumping on the bed. She lay flat on it staring at the ceiling.

“Poor you Angela…how are you gonna live now? Exams is near and yet you know nothing” She murmurs to herself.

“If you weren't lackadaisical in your studies you wouldn't be so far behind in the class…anyways I thought about it and there's only one way to make this work examinations is near also”

“One way? Mikey you'll show me the answers secretly?” She grinned standing from the bed while Mike knock her forehead.

“ouch!” She pouted rubbing it.

“I'll never engage in examination malpractice…how low of you seriously…”

“So what are you gonna do this won't work?!” She kicked her legs in the air like a baby throwing a tantrum.

“This is the only way I could came up with. Let's make a deal”

“A deal?”

“Huh this is the deal. If you study hard and do well in your examinations then I will…”

“You will…?” She asked curiously.

“I promise to…go on a…um a….” He closed his eyes taking a deep breathe like someone about to take the biggest decision in his life.

“I'llgoonadatewithyou!” He said in a rush shutting his eyes in the process.

“What the heck! I can't hear a thing of what you said!” Angela shot back.

“I said I will…take you out on a date” he finally said with a gritted teeth.

“What? You will what?!”

“Forget it I'm not doing this again” he made to stand but Angela held him quickly.

“I didn't hear wrong…you'll take Angela on a date. Mike you said it”

“That only if she did well”

“Wow Mike you're the best!” Share throws her arms around him.

“I so much love you. You're just too much. As expected I didn't made a wrong choice chasing after you! You're just too much Mikey!” She grins uncontrollably while Mike tries to get her off him.

“Please seriously!” He pushes her away.

“You don't come near me…”

“Mikey….” She squeal

“So deal?” He asked.

“Forever is the deal babe”

“What?”

“Oh…Mike” she beamed.

“I knew this would got her” he mutters to himself.

“Ah right! Isn't it just only studying? I won't die just by doing that….study prepare I'm gonna conquer you!! Mike where are you starting from?”

“From the one you hated most”

“Maths? Alright let's get on it! Maths wait! I'm gonna crush you together with my crushed brain along with my crushie!” She poke her maths textbook with her pen while Mike shook his head at her.

“Crazy….” He mutters.

BRIGHT HIGH.

“why do you keep grinning? It's scary” Andrea asked Angela who wouldn't stop grinning ear to ear.

“Andy…I think…I'm gonna become Mrs Dion soon” she purred and Andrea couldn't help spitting out the milk in her mouth.

“ARE YOU PREGNANT!” she asked shocked and Angela slap her back right away.

“No I'm not! What nonsense are you spouting?”

“If not then….did that jerk touch you? Oh my God Angela you really let him do that? You're just a high schooler for fuck sake! What have you gotten yourself into? Does your mother knows about this? What about Mike's parent? Just what were you guys thinki-”

“Will you just shut it for a while?!” Angela cut her Short by holding her lips.

“We didn't do anything. Why are your thoughts so dirty?”

“Dhennn..” She hummed with Angela's still covering her mouth.

“He promised to take me on a date you dirty thing ” Angela shot at her withdrawing her hand from her lips also.

“You made it sound like a big deal.” Andrea shot back.

“But why is going on a date a special thing that you're so happy? Couples do go on dates…almost every time”

“Ours is different…you can't understand”

“And I don't want to” Andrea rolled her eyes.

“Ah Andrea guess what”

“What?” Andrea asked curiosly.

“Mike smiled…yesterday for the first time” Angela gushed while Andrea only face palmed.

“I'll see you later” she stood up.

“Where are you going?”

“To the library…I've to read to be able to go on a date with Mikey you know. See you later girlfriend” she kissed her cheek and rushed off.

“She has gone loco…” Andrea mutters to herself.

AT THE LIBRARY.

“Am I actually seeing right?” Abby asked with her arms folded resting at the doorpost.

“what do you want?”

“Are you studying?”

“No…I'm playing with the books” Angela replied sarcastically.

“Hey! Are you possessed?”

“Hey even if you underestimate me you shouldn't do that to my brain…I'm trying to discover my hidden abilities here…don't distract me and just scram”

“Sure then…hope it last. Both the brain and you” Abby said leaving.

“Killjoy…I won't let you have your way…I've to go on a date with Mikey…” She continues studying while Abby looks back at her.

“She has gone gaga…” She shook her head.

AT SCHOOL.

“She seems pretty serious this time…she has been reading all day” Andrea said to Edward who was licking lollipop.

“You're right?my angel has really changed.she must be determined to pass this upcoming exams”

“What about you? What exactly are you doing?”

“Hey even if I don't study I still won't fail. I'm extraoriginal”

“Or you mean extraordinary?” Angela corrected.

“Yeah…that….i forgot the word for a second” he itch his hair.

“I should go help my future sponse…I've got to help her you know” he put the lollipop in Andrea's hand going to Angela.

“Hey! It's spouse not sponse! Spouse! Spouse alright!” She shouted after him.

“Aargh! What am I gonna do with him seriously…?” She sighs.

“Angela my Angel!”

“What're you doing here?”

“To read with you” Edward giggles.

“Eddie I'm glad you're here…I can't quite understand this part..can you explain it to me?”

“Of course my Angel…let me see…ummm according to the law of concord…”

“She's sure working hard…” Mike mutters to himself watching them. He turns to another direction and catch Daniel looking at him.

“What's his deal?” He furrowed an eye brow.

LATER.

“When demand exceeds supply, prices tend to rise. There is an inverse relationship between the supply and the price of goods and services when demand is unchanged. And as you already know the law of demand states that…? Angela you” Teacher Imelda called and astonishingly Angela proudly stood up without wasting much time as she usually does when called by any teacher to answer a question.

“The law of demand holds that the demand level for a product or a resource will decline as its price rises, and rise as the price drops. Conversely, the law of supply says higher prices boost supply of an economic good while lower ones tend to diminish it” she answered bodly while the class fills with whaos.

“Who are you?” The teacher asked.

“I'm Angela Antony ma'am” she replied calmly.

“Are you really the Angela I knew….you changed a lot these days” the teacher said and she couldn't help smiling.

“That's good of you Angela…sit” she took her sit while the teacher continues teaching.

“Face the class..answering one question doesn't make you a genius” Mike said flatly and she hissed facing the front. Her gaze met with Edward's which gave her thumbs up and she beamed.

AFTER CLASS.

“Are you happy? Does answering one simple question made you feel like you're on top of the world? Do you think you've made a great achievement?” Jacq Saud to Angela who was packing her stuff in her locker.

She close her locker and face her.

“Yes I do feel like I've made a great achievement. Why? Can't I feel proud for that?”

“No matter how hard you try you'll still be far behind. You can never reach up to people like us”

“People like you? What kind of people are you? Ahhh…the obnoxious arrogant freak who thinks they know everything?”

“What?”

“Don't worry…I don't wanna be like you so don't mind me and just do your thing while I do mine”

“How cheeky of you. Why? You think you're brilliant now uh?”

“I'm always brilliant I just didn't know it and with the help of the school genius I think…people like you are nothing so back off hmph!” Angela huffed walking away from her.

“Stupid dork!” Jacq mutters.

MIKE'S HOUSE.

“You're studying really hard…that's unlike you” Mike Sat beside Angela who's busy on her book.

“I have to if I wanna go on a date with you”

“Don't push it…you might just exhaust yourself” Mike said and Angela faced him grinning.

“Are you…worrying about me right now? You are right? Right?”

Mike's phone beeped taking both their attention.

💬let's meet 💬 the message says.

💬At our usual 💬. Another came in. Angela eyes went to the ID and it was saved with Boyfriend.

Mike quickly took the phone looking everywhere but Angela. Instantly Angela saw the message her spirit went down. It was like her battery shut down.

“I…have to go somewhere real quick…something came up. You can leave when you're done. Don't wait up” Mike said while Angela says nothing.

“See you later…” He went out.

Angela only stares at the books now she was in no mood for studying anymore.

“It's useless if he isn't here anymore…” She packed her books feeling dejected.

“Good day sir” Angela greeted Mike's father who was coming into the house as Angela was about stepping out.

“Ohh…you're Mike's friend right? How are you?”

“I'm great sir”

“Are you leaving already? What about Mike?”

“He stepped out for a moment”

“Ohh really…?”

“I'll take my leave now sir…goodbye sir” Angela made a slight bow and Mr Dion nodded as she left.

“I wonder if his dad knew…if he does it'll be trouble…” She sighs.

“Why do I have to like someone like him of all guy out there? You really have a weird taste Angela…this is so frustrating…”

BRIGHT HIGH.

“So how was the first paper Mrs Dion?” Andrea teases and Angela smiled.

“Well…not that bad” she replied quite satisfied.

“Why are you calling her that? It should be Angela Martin” Edward said with a mouthful of chips.

“And since when did my surname changed to Martin?” Angela asked

“Since the moment I first set my eyes on you…you're my queen”

“Get lost Eddie!” She pushes him away playfully.

“But Mike must have really done a great job tutoring you” Andrea said.

“Not Mike….I'm just too good”

“But seeing you aren't lurking around him you must have come back to your senses…did you guys break up already? Good thinking…you're welcome to my kingdom darling”

“But I thought I am your queen already?”

“Of course..of course you are”

“Get lost Eddie!” She threw the chips at him.

“Mike…hey Mike join us” Andrea called Mike on spotting him.

“Why are you calling him?” Edward gruntled.

Mike went over to them and took a sit opposite Angela.

“It's great to have you sit with us…right Angela?” Andrea asked while Angela said nothing just eating her chips.

“What's wrong with her? Did you two had a fight?” Andrea asked but Mike didn't answers and just face his chips also.

“Why are you all ignoring me!…you both are strange” Andrea mutters clearly pissed off.

“How was the papers?” Mike asked Angela after a while.

“It was good” she replied laconically

“No difficulties?”

“Huh?”

“If you have any problems you can tell me”

“Okay…is that all?” She asked.

“Uh…yeah…maybe…” Mike replied and Angela then stood up.

“You're done?” Andrea asked.

“I've got something to do…see you later” she excused them.

“Something is fishy….but I love this vibes between you two” Edward grinned like Cheshire Cat before following Angela.

“Angela my angel wait up for your king!”

“That idiot…” Andrea shook her head.

“Why do I feel like she's avoiding me?” Mike mutters to himself.

“What did you say?” Andrea asked.

“Just face your snacks…I'm leaving” he stood and leaves leaving on Andrea.

“Wow…I'm all alone now…I should just face my snacks as he said” she said munching on her snacks.
