EPISODE 11

“Pregnancy test?” Ariel asked, blinking at Xander who had his arms crossed on his chest.

“Just go and do it. We’ll see what the outcome is” he said and she gulped. Her hands were already quivering as many thoughts ran through her head. She can’t be pregnant! That would be the beginning of the end for her. Just the thought of carrying a child for that monster sent hot tears down her cheeks.

“Ari, dear. Just go ahead and do the test. Please don’t cry, no matter what the outcome is, you’re going to be fine” Xander assured, stroking her hair. Ariel sniffed and wiped her tears before going into the bathroom to do the test.

A few minutes later, she came out trembling, with the strip in her right hand. She stared at Xander with tears in her eyes and raised the strip to his face.

“Wha.. what does it say?” She asked, swallowing the lump in her throat and hoping for a negative result. Xander saw the two red marks and shook his head.

He was heartbroken and sad for Ariel.

“I’m sorry Ari, but it’s positive. You’re pregnant” he broke the news to her and she staggered backwards, almost collapsing but Xander caught her.

“No.. no.. no! No!” She cried, holding unto Xander.

“I can’t! I can’t be pregnant! No!!” She wailed, refusing to be consoled.

“Calm down, it’s not the end of the world. You’re going to be fine” Xander said but she shook her head.

“No,. you don’t understand. It is the end of the world for me. How can I be carrying that monster’s child?” She cried.

“I’d rather die”

“Stop it Ariel. Nothing is going to happen to you. I’m sure if we tell Miguel, he’ll understand that you’re carrying his child and will set you free.. or at least stop treating you badly” Xander said, trying to give her hope but Ariel refused.

“Tell him? No I won’t do that. I can’t.. I can’t keep the baby” she sniffed.

“What? So what do you intend to do?”

“You know stuff like this master Xander. Tell me how do I get rid of it? How do I abort the baby?” Ariel asked, giving Xander a shock. He glared at her angrily.

“Why would you even say such a thing!?” He yelled at her, for the first time. Ariel was surprised.

“Why wouldn’t I?! How can I bear a child to that devil!? I can’t!” Ariel argued.

“So how is that the innocent baby’s fault? What did he do to deserve it? Listen Ariel, I forbid you to even have thoughts of getting rid of that baby” he warned and took a deep breath. He looked into her pain filled eyes and felt so much pity.

“I understand how you feel, being pregnant for someone who has abused you, and having a child without his father’s love is heartbreaking but I promise you that I won’t let you go through this alone, I’ll be here for you” he said in a calmer tone, stroking her hair.

Ariel placed her head on his shoulder and sobbed, she was wondering what would happen if Miguel found out about her pregnancy. Would he accept it? Would he throw her out and abandon her to start life afresh with her child? Would her child never have or feel a father’s love?

Where would she even get the money to train a child on her own? Ariel was scared and confused.

“But.. I can’t tell him” she muttered.

“Why?”

“Because I’m scared. I can’t tell him for now, I’m not ready. Please don’t let him know yet”

“Ariel..”

“Please” she sniffed and Xander sighed.

“It’s alright. I won’t tell him but you know pregnancy can’t be hidden, it’ll show sooner or later” he said and she kept quiet. She still had to figure a lot of things out before telling Miguel about it.

“Tell me master Xander, what’s your relationship with Sally? Be honest” Ariel asked out of the blue and Xander chuckled.

“Why do you ask?”

“She has been cold to me recently and I thought it’s because of how close we’ve become” Ariel replied.

“Well, if Sally feels anything for me, she should have told me but she hasn’t ever mentioned it to me. Instead of being jealous, she should confront me” Xander replied with a straight face and helped Ariel to lie on the bed.

“Go to bed, relax. I’ll check on you later” he said and left. Ariel closed her eyes and thought about the pregnancy and how she will go about it.

…

“Xander. Where have you been?” Miguel asked as soon as Xander entered his room.

“I’m sorry I’m late. Here are the files you asked for, details of our next shipment is here as well” Xander said, dropping the files on his desk. Miguel stepped towards him and looked him in the eye.

“That wasn’t the answer to my question Xander. I don’t know why you seem distant these days. Who have you been with?” He asked, Xander was a little bit frightened. He wondered if Miguel figured out that he was friends with Ariel.

“I honestly don’t know what you’re talking about Miguel. You got back from your trip this morning. We haven’t talked” Xander replied, trying his best to keep his cool. He didn’t want to give Miguel any reason to suspect him.

“Is that so? I just hope you’re telling the truth” Miguel smirked before picking up the files to stare at them.

Xander sighed and turned to leave but Laura entered the room, blocking him. She smirked at him before walking over to Miguel.

“Baby” she called, pecking Miguel’s cheek.

“You didn’t knock.. stop making that mistake” Miguel responded coldly and she rolled her eyes. Xander stood there, watching them.

“I’m sorry, but I brought you big news” she said.

“Speak” he ordered.

“I think it’ll interest you to know that your mistress is seeing another man” Laura broke the news, leaving Xander stunned. He glared at Laura who simply winked at him.

“What?” Miguel asked, although he wasn’t as shocked as Laura expected him to be.

“Yes Miguel. In your absence, she was busy frolicking and having fun with another man, right under the roof of your mansion. If you ask me, she’s ungrateful and doesn’t love her life” she scoffed. Xander was boiling already, he fisted his hands and watched her.

Miguel was quiet for a while, before picking up his phone. He called Farouk and asked him to send Ariel to his room immediately.

In a few minutes, Ariel entered and was surprised to see them all there. She looked at Xander who bit his lip and looked away.

“You sent for me master” Ariel lowered her head.

“Who is he?” Miguel asked almost immediately. Ariel was confused.

“Who? I don’t understand” Ariel replied innocently. Before she knew it, he dashed towards her and grabbed her by the neck, choking her. Ariel gasped for breath, crying.

“Miguel!” Xander called, annoyed.

“Stay out of this” Laura warned.

“What is the matter with you? Why are you doing this?” He asked in a whisper, seething.

Laura simply ignored him.

Miguel was still choking Ariel as she struggled to get free.

“You have to get it into your brain that you’re mine Ariel, mine! No other man is allowed to come close to you! Or touch you! I may despise you but you’re still only mine! To do with as I please and I won’t tolerate this from you!” He roared. Ariel cried, pleading with him to let go of her.

Xander watched in horror, and couldn’t stop himself anymore.

“Miguel stop it! You’re going to kill her! Please!” He rushed at them and tried to pull Miguel away from Ariel. He succeeded and Miguel was cross with him.

“Why did you interfere? Are you the one she is seeing?” Miguel asked, deeply hoping that it wasn’t his best friend. Ariel was sitting in the corner, coughing and crying.

“Miguel, the point is, don’t kill her. It’s not worth it” Xander replied.

“Shut the f*ck up and answer me Xander! Are you sleeping with my mistress? Are you f*cking her?” He asked, angry. Laura was loving the drama a lot.

“Miguel..”

“No he’s not” Ariel spoke up. She stood up and went to stand in front of Miguel. She looked at Xander and sniffed, then she fell at Miguel’s feet.

“Then who is it? And don’t you f*cking lie to me!”
