EPISODE 35

Both men dashed into the room and met Ariel held at gun point, the woman holding her was wearing a mask, Miguel was overwhelmed with fear, for the first time in his life, he was afraid of something. He had no idea what would become of him if Ariel were to die. Xander on the other hand was already begging the spy to let Ariel go.

“We'll give you anything, let her go” he said.

“Yes, please” Miguel nodded in fear.

“Drop your weapons!” The familiar voice commanded and they obeyed without hesitation. Ariel was crying, she prayed for a miracle.

“Let her go, I'll give you anything” Miguel repeated.

“I'm not here to bargain Mr Miguel Cooper! I'm here to kill her, and you and everyone else that has anything to do with you” the woman answered, shocking them.

“Why? Who are you?” Miguel questioned.

“It's funny how you've forgotten my voice despite all the years we spent together” she chuckled and pulled Ariel to the side of the bed, she was already tied up, her hands behind her back. The woman dropped Ariel on the bed, still pointing her gun to her, then with her free hand, she took off her mask.

Everyone gasped in shock.

“Laura?” Miguel got angry immediately, his hot temper getting the best of him.

“I should have known, no one else can sneak into this mansion and be as skilled to kill all the soldiers” Xander said and Laura scoffed.

“I'm glad you know what I'm capable. That should tell you that I can take all your lives if I please” She bragged and turned to glare at Ariel who was whimpering. Her back and waist were hurting like they were on fire, she kept on breathing heavily, with tears rushing down her cheeks.

“Why are you doing this?” Miguel asked.

“Don't be so foolish to ask me such a stupid question. After everything I did for you, you punished me because of this brat! Now I'm here to take my revenge. I'm going to kill you, kill him, kill her and take everything for myself” she laughed and Miguel tried to attack her but she corked her gun and was ready to shoot Ariel.

“No!” Miguel screamed, stopping.

“Come any closer and I'll blow her brains off” Laura grinned.

“Now, who should I kill first?” Laura asked and then touched Ariel's belly, she withdrew her body, shivering.

“How about the little baby in the womb?” She laughed again.

“No, stop it!” Miguel cried. Xander pulled him back and shook his head.

“What do I do?” Miguel was weak, but he did not say that out loud, he said it in his head. The funny thing was that, Xander actually heard him. It was a unique bond that they shared, sometimes they could hear each other's thoughts. People called them special twins because of this particular ability that they had.

“We have to outsmart her” Xander answered in his head as well.

“But we'll have to work together, follow my lead” Xander nodded at Miguel, who was looking weak.

Miguel took the signal and looked up at Laura who was staring at the both of them.

“Fine Laura, you win. You can take everything, you can even take my life, just let Ariel and the innocent child go” Miguel said and Laura smirked.

“You think I'm stupid? I know you two are planning something” she pointed to him and Xander.

“I'll just kill her now and be rid of all of you” she said and turned to Ariel. She grabbed her hair pushed the gun to her forehead.

“Goodbye” Laura winked and grinned wickedly.

“Wait!!” Xander suddenly screamed at the top of his voice, distracting Laura. As soon as she turned, Miguel got on the floor and kicked the gun out of her hand, it landed in Xander's hands and he pointed it at Laura immediately. Miguel expertly picked up his own gun and also pointed it to her. He smirked.

“You forgot the fifth mafia rule.. never lose focus” Xander grinned.

“Don't..” Laura said in fear, seeing that the tables had turned on her.

“I hope the devil rejects your soul” Miguel shot her immediately, right in the chest. Xander planted another bullet in her chest as well and she fell on her knees, blood escaping through her chest and mouth before she finally fell face first on the floor.

“B*tch” Miguel muttered and dropped his gun before rushing to Ariel. She was still in so much pain, breathing heavily.

“Is she okay?” Xander walked up to them.

“I don't think so, I have to take her to the hospital” Miguel answered. He lifted Ariel and started rushing out. Ariel reached out to Xander.

“Please come with me” she whispered, feeling very weak. Xander took her hand and squeezed it gently before following them out. They entered a car and drove to the hospital.

★★ AT THE HOSPITAL ★★

The doctors and nurses came out and rushed Ariel into the emergency department where they gave her a thorough check up and discovered that she was in labour.

“Is she going to be okay?” Miguel asked immediately one of the nurses came out.

“Sir, she's in labour” the nurse answered and ran off to prepare for the delivery. Miguel held his forehead, scared to death. What if something goes wrong? What if he loses Ariel or his child? Xander noticed how tensed he was and touched his shoulder.

“Calm down, she's going to be fine. She's very strong, I'm sure she'll be fine” Xander assured. Miguel stared at him, wondering what happened to their friendship. Are they going to let a woman come between them? Obviously, Xander still cared about him.

“Will you stay here with me?” Miguel asked and Xander nodded.

“I'm not going anywhere until I'm sure she's okay” Xander replied and Miguel sighed, he was really anxious with the nurses running in and out of the ward, there was a lot of tension.

“Who is Xander?” One of the nurses asked, meeting them.

“I am” Xander answered.

“The patient is requesting to see you right now” the nurse informed and left. Xander glanced at Miguel before leaving to see Ariel. Miguel couldn't help but wonder why Ariel wanted to see Xander instead of him, he got angry at Xander again, forgetting their friendship yet again.

Xander entered the ward and saw Ariel lying helplessly on the bed, with her knees up, getting ready to push. She started to shed tears and reached out for him to hold her. Xander sat by her and caressed her hair.

“What is it? I'm here” he cooed.

“I.. I don't want to stay with Miguel after giving birth. Please don't let him take me and my baby please. Please, I don't want him to take us” she pleaded, hiccuping in tears.

“Why?” Xander asked, surprised. He actually thought that Ariel was in love with Miguel.

“He's not a good man. He's selfish, he's mean! I planned to get him to fall for me, so that I can crush his feelings, but he's getting too possessive. He doesn't even care if I love him or not, all he wants is to keep me with him at all costs. I can't raise my child with a psychopath like him. He's always going to be a devil” Ariel cried, holding Xander so tightly.

Though she knew she had feelings for Miguel, she still thought he was a horrible partner and would make a bad father.

“Are you choosing me over him?” Xander asked in shock.

“Yes, I am” she answered and he hugged her.

Miguel heard everything, the door was open, he stood there and heard everything. His heart shattered and he stormed out. He ran out of the hospital and screamed into the night in frustration and anger and pain. His first time of falling in love, and he can't have her! He pulled his hair and stomped his feet and punched the air, all just to take out his frustration. The pain he felt was indescribable at that moment.

“Ariel.. why are you doing this to me?” He sniffed, sitting on the grass with his head lowered.

“You can't leave me.. I won't let you leave me. You can't! You belong to me, I love you!” He continued to cry. That would be the first time he ever cried that much. All he knew how to do was hurt other people, now he has experienced immense pain and it was worse than he imagined.

Back inside the hospital, Ariel had started pushing, with Xander holding her. She pushed and pushed, yet nothing happened.

“Let's try one more time” the doctor said and encouraged Ariel to try.

“You can do it” Xander said, kissing her sweaty forehead. She pushed with all her strength but nothing happened.

“What's going on?” Xander asked.

“There are complications” the doctor announced.
