EPISODE 19

“Get me Laura” Miguel ordered and immediately, Laura was called and she arrived a few minutes later, walking in like a model.

“Miguel. You sent for me, is there a problem?” She asked, before turning to Ariel to give her a dirty glare.

“I want the truth and so help me if I find out you're responsible for this, I'll skin you alive!” Miguel said through gritted teeth, leaving Laura baffled.

“Responsible for what? What happened?” She asked.

“You added abortion pills to her routine drugs” Miguel stated and Laura gasped out of fear but tried to cover up.

“Abortion pills? Who would do such a thing?” She asked, her heart sank into her stomach. How on earth did he find out? She looked up and saw the doctor and the maid, that was when it dawned on her that she was finished. She started sweating, wondering what Miguel would do to her, he might not let her live.

“So you still have the nerves to lie to my face!?” He yelled and grabbed her by the neck, throwing her across the room. She landed on her elbow and shrieked out in pain. Tears rolled down her cheeks as she struggled to stand up.

“How dare you try to harm my child?!” He thundered. Miguel has never cared about anything as much as he cares about his child. With no intentions of getting married, a child to carry on his f*cked up name is all he ever wanted. Plus, it's his first seed.

“I'm.. I'm sorry” She cried.

“I was just jealous of her”

Miguel scoffed and Ariel was still holding her neck, whimpering. Miguel almost strangled her to death.

“Miguel, I've been in love with you since we were kids. I actually thought we were going to end up together until she came into your life. I feel so insecure whenever she's around you. You belong to me Miguel and I couldn't let anyone else have you” Laura confessed, crying profusely.

“You're dead.. believe me” Miguel said, glaring at her.

“I know” she sniffed.

“I'm sorry for everything. But Miguel, you've been ignoring me even though I've always been there for you and this clan, I've risked my life severally for you and this clan. All I wanted in return was for you to love me back, but you didn't, instead you got her pregnant!! I went crazy and I couldn't bare it” she continued, still shooting daggers at Ariel with her eyes.

Miguel stared at her speechlessly. Laura has been a great companion and asset to his clan, but trying to kill his child was overstepping the boundaries.

“Take this traitor to the jail cell and keep her there until I give my command on whether she will live or die. Give her fifty strokes of the whip every morning and night” Miguel instructed and two of his men started dragging Laura away.

“No!! No!! Miguel you can't do this to me! Not because of her!! Not after everything I've done for yoooouu!!!” She continued to scream until Miguel was out of her sight. Everyone else left the room, leaving only Ariel and Miguel.

Ariel was still hurt on her neck, Miguel's fingers left a mark. He approached her but she turned away, weeping.

“Um.. are you okay?” He asked.

“Leave me alone. You'd have killed me. Do you think your precious baby will be alive if I'm dead? Go ahead and kill me then!” She cried and he sighed, passing his fingers through his hair.

“I.. I'm s..s..sorr.. sorry” he stuttered but the words finally came out.

Ariel stared at him in disbelief, she never thought he would hear those words from him. It looks like she's getting through to him, even if the process is slow.

“I still want to be alone” she insisted.

“Fine, I'll leave you alone. But make sure that you don't take anything else without me checking it first. Are we clear?” He asked and she nodded.

… NEXT MORNING…

Xander has been away trying to find Jerry but as soon as he came back to the mansion, he received the news about Laura. He was happy that she finally got punished and was on his way to meet Ariel to check on her but he ran into Sally first.

“Your accomplice, she's behind bars now” he smirked. Sally looked sober, she had tears in her eyes.

“You're welcome to join her” he added.

“Look master, I'm sorry for everything. I've realized my mistake now and I want to make amends” she said and he chuckled.

“Really? Are you actually repenting or you're just trying to save yourself from going to jail?” He questioned. Tears rolled down her eyes and she couldn't hold them back.

“I'm so sorry. I know I messed up” she sniffed, the tears rolling down heavily. Xander actually saw her sincerity and started to feel pity for her.

“Please forgive me. Laura was taking advantage of my jealousy and I allowed her. Look, I know I can never have you, you'll never love me the same way I love you and I have accepted that truth. Just forgive me so that things can go back to normal” she pleaded. Xander sighed and rubbed his eyes.

“It's fine. But you have to apologise to Ariel, she's the one you tried to kill” he placed a hand on her shoulder and used his free hand to wipe her tears, she smiled.

Xander has always known that Sally has feelings for him, but he just can't bring himself to love her the way she wants. Even before Ariel's arrival, he never felt anything for Sally. Sally is pretty, hardworking and cute but that's not what he wants, he just can't love her no matter how hard he tries.

He walked away and went to see Ariel.

“Ari” he met her outside Miguel's room, it looked like she was about to rush in but he caught her. She turned to him, looking nervous.

“Hi”

“What were you doing?” He asked.

“Nothing. I um.. I heard you talking to Sally” she finally revealed why she was nervous.

“Oh, you were eavesdropping?” He raised his brow and she smiled.

“I couldn't help it” she winked.

“So you aren't going to reciprocate her love?” She asked, they had already started taking a walk down the hallway.

“I just can't. She's not a bad person but love doesn't happen just because the other person loves you. Besides, I'm already in love with someone else” he breathed out. Ariel's soul almost left her body when he said that, peering into her eyes. She liked him, no doubt, but what about Miguel?

“Are you going to tell me who she is?” She asked. He stopped walking and faced her.

“You”

She gasped.

“Me?”

“Yes, you Ariel”

“But, what about Miguel?”

“What about him? Are you in love with him?”

“No, hell no! But, he may punish you”

“He only wants the child, once you give him the child, you'll be free from him. He'll probably let you go and we can be together. That is, if you want to be with me” Xander explained.

Ariel sighed and turned away. How does she tell Xander that she's already attached to the baby and would want to take the baby with her once her revenge plan is complete?

“I like you too Xander, but I'll think about spending my life with you. It's not an easy decision” she said and he nodded.

“That's fine. Come on, let's go to the garden and talk” he said and they left.

…

Laura was in the cell, crying and staring at the wounds on her body. She just finished receiving her second dose of the whip that morning and she was in so much pain. She stopped crying when she heard footsteps approaching. It was Miguel, probably here to give his judgement.

“Laura” he called. She rushed to him and knelt down.

“Please don't kill me please, I promise to go far away and never come into your lives again but please let me die. Pleeeeeeaasee” she cried bitterly.

“I won't kill you Laura, you've been a loyal member of this clan and that is the sole reason why I will spare your life” he smirked and she was relieved.

“You'll be set free and you can go back to your family. You're no longer a member of this clan” he stated and walked away.

Laura's family lives in a house marked by the mafia and is under constant supervision. If Laura ever tries to reveal the mafia secret, all it takes is a push of a button to get rid of her and her family so she wouldn't even try that.

Laura was happy that she's finally out, but promised to take her revenge.

“You're forgetting Miguel, I defeated most of your enemies, and I can make them my friends as well” she grinned.
